A tower going up just north of Toyota’s new headquarters on State Highway 121 isn’t another office high-rise or hotel. It’s a vertical automobile dealership where customers will take delivery of their vehicles in what amounts to a giant vending machine. Phoenix-based Carvana has already built its car sales “machines” in Atlanta and Nashville. One opened in Houston a couple of weeks ago.
How does it work?
Carvana customers make their purchase online, then go to the tower to take delivery of their vehicles. They are given a large Carvana “coin” to insert in a controller that delivers the auto.
